There is no god but Allāh alone, with no partner. His is the dominion and His is all praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is Ever-Living and never dies. In His hand is all good, and He does what He wills, and He has power over all things. Every soul shall taste death, and you will be paid your wages in full only on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to the Garden has truly succeeded — and the life of this world is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion. (Āl ʿImrān 3:185)
O servant of Allāh, son of the servant of Allāh… (O maidservant of Allāh, daughter of the servant of Allāh…)
O servant of Allāh, son of Ḥawwā’ … (O maidservant of Allāh, daughter of Ḥawwā’ …)
Remember the covenant upon which you departed from the abode of this world: the testimony that there is no god but Allāh, and that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ; that death is true, that the grave is true, that its bliss is true, that its punishment is true, that the questioning of Munkar and Nakīr within it is true, that the resurrection is true, that the reckoning is true, that the scale is true, that the ṣirāṭ is true, that the intercession of our master Muḥammad ﷺ is true, that the Garden is true, that the Fire is true, that the meeting with Allāh Most High is true for the people of truth, that the Hour is coming — there is no doubt in it — and that Allāh will raise up those who are in the graves.
Now you have come to lie within the folds of the earth, among the ranks of the dead. When the two angels appointed over you come to you — and they are Munkar and Nakīr — let them not frighten you nor terrify you, for they are but a creation among the creation of Allāh Most High, Mighty and Majestic. And when they ask you, "Who is your Lord? Who is your Prophet? What is your religion? What is your qiblah? What is your guide? Who are your brethren?" — say to them, with a clear tongue and a sound conviction: "Allāh is my Lord, Muḥammad is my Prophet, Islam is my religion, the Kaʿbah is my qiblah, the Qurʾān is my guide, and the Muslims are my brethren." And say: "I am content with Allāh as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muḥammad ﷺ as Prophet and Messenger." Upon this you lived, upon this you died, and upon this you will be raised — if Allāh Most High wills — among those who are secure.
May Allāh make you firm with the firm word. (Recited three times)
Allāh keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in the life of this world and in the Hereafter. (Ibrāhīm 14:27)
O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing. Enter among My servants, and enter My Garden. (Al-Fajr 89:27–30)
